Submitting Info to MineralCollecting.org
You are here: MineralCollecting.org >> Posted Articles >> Article 12

by J. Adam Barwood

It's important that we not only gather knowledge from the Internet, we should also contribute knowledge to the Internet!

This mineral page has been set up to serve as a marketplace for communication and information exchange. In order for me to provide useful information, it is necessary to collect visitor input and resources. I don't really know much about minerals so I have to subsidize my gibberish with something that is interesting. That's where YOU come in.

Don't fear the "Submit" button. The most personal info I will ever ask that you provide is your name and email address. Anyone interested in finding that information need only search for it in many circumstances. So why not share this info with people you would actually LIKE to meet?

There are several very interactive areas provided in this web site.
1) The Mineral Collector's Forum. A message board is not a new feature for web sites. There are many message boards pertaining to minerals that can be found throughout the internet. I set up a message board on my site, anyway, just to create an additional forum for communication. This board does not offer any features that cannot already be found on other sites. It's just a place to hang out if you find some free time. Feel free to post a new topic. Anything you want. I don't care what you post, as long as the content is similar to the subject of minerals, fossils, geology, science, etc. and does not contain inappropriate language.
2) The Mineral Collector Directory. Share a tiny bit of information about yourself to the mineral community. At least go look at the form. This is not a unique resource but it is a nicely formatted and easy to use version. As the directory grows, I have no doubt that many people who browse the listing will find collectors in their community that they didn't even know existed. You have the potential to make new contacts, make new friends, find new spots to collect, and exchange information. All you have to do is fill in the form.
3) The Field Trip Exchange. What's better than a one stop location for finding Trips, Events, Shows, and Meetings in your area. The Field Trip Exchange IS that one stop location. The only way for this resource to grow and continue is by allowing visitors to quickly and easily submit the necessary information. Tell your local clubs to add their shows to the listings. Submit club field trips to the listings, also. Add interesting meetings and symposia to the listings. Most important though, use the list for you own needs.
4) Posted Articles. Visitors can now submit their very own article to the page to be viewed by the whole world. This area is set up to accommodate any type of article, from a field trip write-up to an extensive and complicated research abstract. All you have to do is enter your text into the text field, provide your name and e-mail address, and click the submit button. No article pertaining to minerals, fossils, lapidary arts, mineralogy/geology, or science will be refused. Try it.

Submitting to this page is quick and easy. Your input will help countless others to gain a better understanding of mineralogy and geology. Please submit your article today.
